As I was describing the perceived "lowliness" of the ass and feet, it occurred to me that there are people who actually find the feet to be attractive. Gorgeous even. There are people who get excited about not only feet, but just about anything you can imagine. They like the way it feels, looks, smells. People feel about their fetish the same way the general male population feels about boobs. They just love everything about it.
Why though? What is so attractive about a foot, or a ball gag, or a long set of fingernails or whatever the thing is? Well that mostly has to do with the lazy human brain. I submit that whether you remember it or not, every fetish has a development period. I'll give an example...
Billy has a trench coat fetish. He looks at a plain brown trench coat and it excites him. It puts him in a certain mood. why? Because when he was younger, he saw a TV show where a lady was walking down a hall wearing a coat like that. Later she took off the coat and was naked underneath. The image made a strong impression on Billy because he was young and horny. As time went on, Billy saw more of this. Perhaps he even started to seek it out, typing in search words to bring him there.
The human brain is plastic. When you associate two things together, the wiring of the brain gradually changes to physically associate those things. Neurons that fire together wire together. This is an energy saving technique, much like creating a keyboard shortcut for a function that you commonly use. In the beginning, Billy didn't find anything particularly attractive about trench coats, but now if you were to hook up censors to his head and show him a trench coat, you would find that his Amygdala was doing it's happy dance.
This is true of object fetishes as well as other less tangible fetishes, such as fetish of a scenario. If you think about your naughty little secrets, you may be able to exactly identify how and when it started. You may feel like it has always been that way with you. I don't know you and I'm not here to argue, but I would suggest that most likely, even in the cases where you think you've always felt that way, you probably developed those feelings over time. That time may have been very quickly depending on the intensity of the situation.
Let me be clear that I am speaking of fetishes, and not sexual orientation. I do have thoughts on that, but don't confuse fetishes with sexual orientation.
Here's a picture I drew about a strong fetish of mine. In this fetish, I get excited by the notion of a person who looks calm and normal on the outside, but things are quite different on the inside. Obviously it also includes my fetish of forced feminization.
